Community Bank System, Inc. will be consolidating five branches.
The announcement comes after the bank acquired 16 HSBC branches and the upcoming gain of three First Niagara branches.
“We looked at the proximity of these branches and decided this was the best way to efficiently serve our customers,” said Mark Tryniski, President and CEO. “We want to stress there will be no layoffs as a result of this consolidation move.”
The five branches to be consolidated effective September 10th include:
· The former HSBC branch located at 120 Washington Street in Watertown will be closed and customers of that location will immediately be served by the Community Bank NA branch at 216 Washington Street in Watertown. Customers can also receive service at our other Watertown locations at 1125 Arsenal Street, 1218 Arsenal Street and the drive up facility at 400 Washington Street.
· The former HSBC branch located at 7550 South State Street in Lowville will be closed and customers of that location will immediately be served by the Community Bank NA branch at 7605 State Street in Lowville. Customers can also receive service at our other Lowville location at 7395 Turin Road.
Customers with safety deposit boxes at the consolidated locations will be receiving separate communications regarding re-establishing a box at the new location.
