A Watertown man landed in jail after an apartment dweller called police to report an annoying odor emanating from somewhere in her building, pervading the hall and her apartment Tuesday night.
According to city police the source of the odor turned out to be a pair of socks soaked in a noxious substance in an adjacent apartment.
Investigators said the resident of the apartment, Terry Luke Gebo, 48, of 814 Academy Street, had placed the socks in a bread bag and was huffing on the contents.
Officers charged Gebo with Possession of a Noxious Material.
Gebo was transported to the PSB and held on $250 bail pending arraignment in City of Watertown Court.
In October Gebo was arrested on a similar charge, accused of inhaling the solvent Toluene.
A check of the archives of the Watertown Daily Times found Gebo to have a history of other arrests in Watertown on various charges.
