Residents in the North Country might start to notice an increased air presence from Fort Drum over the next few months.

The 10th Combat Aviation Brigade MEDEVAC Unit, recently home from Afghanistan, is conducting training drills to ensure the safety of soldiers during training, as well as those deployed overseas.

In the past, emergency situations that occurred on Fort Drum would be called into Syracuse for air lift medical support. Now, soldiers will not have to wait for the helicopter to make the long journey to assist with medical needs.

Due to Army regulations however, the services that the 10th Combat Aviation Brigade are training for will not be available to North Country residents.
