One Month Closer to a Record Year....(12-6-12)

(6:00 pm Thursday December 6th)We are down to less than 30 days left in 2012 and it is almost a given that the United States will end up with it's warmest year in more than 100 years of record keeping.
Earlier this week we pointed out that through November Syracuse was still on track for the warmest year on record. The numbers are now in for the entire country and here is where 2012 stands compared to all the years back to 1895.

The National Climatic Data Center has run the numbers and they say the United States would have to be 1 degree below the coldest December already on the books (1983) for us to slip below the current warmest year, 1998. That means it would have to be a record-breaking cold December (by quite a bit, mind you) for the United States NOT to break the record for the warmest year on record.
