The Lewis County Humane Society (LCHS) is offering fee-waived adoptions for all cats over six months of age and $50 adoptions for all kittens from now until the end of July.

The normal adoption fee is $100.

Potential adopters must go through the same adoption screening process as any other time, but fees for adoption will be waived for all adult cats. Eleven cats are spayed or neutered, tested for Feline Aids and Leukemia, vaccinated, and treated for intestinal parasites and fleas.

“This is a tough time of year for shelters,” said Patti Gorby, Director of The Lewis County Humane Society. “Kitten season is in full-swing and we are out of room at both the shelter and in our foster homes.  We have a full house and many, many more on our waiting list to be admitted, and receive desperate calls every day from people who have found litters of kittens in their yards.

“We are very excited to be able to offer this fantastic opportunity to new adopters, and hope people will take advantage of it,” said Ms. Gorby.

Adoption hours are Tuesday-Friday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 4 to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

For more information contact Lewis County Humane Society at 376-8349 or visit the LCHS website at www.lewiscountyhumanesociety.org.
