Lower water levels on the St. Lawrence River and Lake Ontario are prompting questions from recreational boaters and residents.

According to a recent release from the New York Power Authority those questions should now be directed toward the International Joint Commission (IJC).

The IJC works to determine what the water levels are where the water is flowing to through the Lake Ontario-St. Lawrence River system between the United States and Canada.

This includes Lake St. Lawrence, which is part of the Robert Moses-Robert H. Saunders Power Dam on the St. Lawrence River.

Questions concerning the water levels should be directed to the U.S. secretary of the IJC’s International St. Lawrence River Board of Control (ISLRBC), John Kangas, at (312) 353-4333 or john.w.kangas@usace.army.mil.
