Dancing with the Stars eliminates another couple after the side-by-side challenge. Did Ingo "skate by" like he had hoped to? Or was it no laughing matter for a bottom-dwelling comedian?
Can these guys pat themselves on the back any more for the side-by-side challenge? Sorry, Len's Side-By-Side Challenge TM. Yes, good job, everyone, for thinking of a gimmick that doesn't suck and figuring out a way to bring Maks and Tristan back! Speaking of Tristan, can Sean crush any harder on him? "If we can work it out that it's just you and I dancing, I don't mind being the woman," he says in a video package. "Would you accept this Dancing rose?" Now we really know what's behind those breakup rumors.
First safe couple:
Kellie and Derek
Ingo and Kym are in jeopardy. So much for skating by! Even if he's not in the bottom two, you can't blame TPTB for putting him in jeopardy when you blatantly admit that you hope to skate by this week. You bait them like that and they're going to take it.
After Jacoby and Karina (and Maks and Anna) get their wish with the encore, we are treated to the Chmerkovskiy Brothers Calisthenics Hour. I don't know about you, but I've never had my brother stretch out my hamstring at the behest of my mom. Also, if you're keeping track, Maks has had about 304 times more screen time than half the couples remaining. I may have rounded up a bit.
Next three safe couples:
Zendaya and Val
Jacoby and Karina
Aly and Mark
Victor, who apparently had an emergency potty break last night, and Lindsay are in jeopardy.
Next week, aka Stevie Wonder Week, will also have team dances. Kellie and Derek, and Zendaya and Val, the two highest-scoring couples, are captains and will pick teams after the show. Team Paso will dance to "Higher Ground" and Team Samba will dance to "Superstitious." Andy wants to be on Kellie's team only so they can be called Team Pickler Dick. How long has he been saving that one? "For the first times in 16 seasons, I got nothing," Tom says.
After Selena Gomez — now donning a purple bindi — and the most transparent lip-synched performance, Tom gets down to business. And by that, I mean announcing that Sean and Catherine's TV-ready wedding will air in August. "But based on what I've seen with Tristan and [Sean] tonight, I don't know," he quips. Tristan will totally be the best man.
Next two safe couples:
Sean and Peta
Andy and Sharna — Team Pickler Dick can happen, folks!
D.L. and Cheryl are in jeopardy. Ingo and Kym are safe, which means D.L. and Cheryl, and Victor and Lindsay are the bottom two.
And the couple going home is... D.L. and Cheryl.
It was going to happen sooner than later. Most of us thought sooner, but props for hanging around this long and actually improving.
"[I'm going to miss] just Cheryl," D.L. jokes. I watched Len ... and you need to work on your hip action. The hip replacement that Bruno said I need, I'm willing to you. ... I played with house money. Thanks to Team D.L. and Cheryl for keeping us in this long."
So Victor and Lindsay, who've been in the bottom two three times now, survive yet again. Now that's skating by. Their number's probably up next week though now that everyone weaker than him — except for Andy, who can trump him with the popular vote — is gone.
What do you think? Was it D.L.'s time? Are you surprised he lasted this long? How much longer can Victor walk on the plank? How will the show find a way to bring Maks back? Are you into Team Pickler Dick? Are Sean and Tristan MFEO? Who's your current pick to win?
