Burning Ban is in effect for all of New York State

The annual burning ban is issued by the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation. Violators of the open burning regulation are subject to criminal and civil enforcement actions, with a minimum fine of $500 for a first time offense.
Canton (WWTI) -- Director of Emergency Services in St. Lawrence County, Joseph Gilbert, has issued a reminder that the statewide ban on open burning is in effect until May15th.

The annual burning ban is issued by the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation. Violators of the open burning regulation are subject to criminal and civil enforcement actions, with a minimum fine of $500 for a first time offense.

Open burning can resume after May 15th provided requirements are met and no further bans are in place through local or state regulation.
