The Watertown man known as “Peanut” is facing three charges following his latest arrest, early Wednesday, in connection with another domestic incident at his Northside home.
Edward Lee “Peanut” Whitfield III, 42, of 111 East Lynde Street, apt 1 was charged with Assault 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree and Harassment 2nd Degree when he was arrested at his residence at about 12:15 a.m.
Investigators say July Marie Towsley, 27, who shares the East Lynde Street apartment with Whitfield, was slapped, punched and strangled with a video cable, allegedly by Whitfield, a few minutes prior to his arrest.
Ms. Towsley suffered a bloody nose and a bruise to her neck.
Following arraignment in City of Watertown Court this morning, Whitfield was returned to Jefferson County Jail where he is being held with out bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Thursday in city court.
Whitfield has been arrested on numerous previous occasions on various charges, many involving domestic incidents with Ms. Towsley.
