Attorneys for convicted Brenda Roth push for new trial

The possibility of a new trial for the woman convicted in the overdose death of a Carthage teen is being debated by a judge.

Brenda Roth was found to have allowed Derek Holton to overdose and die inside her Deer River home back in 2015.

As a result, she was found guilty charges of second-degree manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide, tampering with evidence and endangering the welfare of a child.

Her attorney asked the judge to throw out the convictions, saying that she can't be convicted of manslaughter as well as homicide for one person's death.
