Carthage-based plant given disconnect notice

The last time Carthage Specialty Paper paid its sewer bill was in July, with the plant now owing about $277,000.

Earlier in the week, according to 7 News, West Carthage lawmakers decided to send a disconnect notice: pay up in 15 days or have the service turned off. That message was apparently received, as Carthage Specialty has submitted a payment plan to take care of the outstanding bill.

The specifics of the plan weren't revealed, but the first payment is likely less than half of the total owed according to 7, which means West Carthage's mayor needs boad approval to accept the deal.
