Fort Drum's main gate shutdown due to explosives scare Saturday

A scare caused Fort Drum's main gate to be shutdown for most of Saturday. According to a Drum Facebook post, the gate off Route 781 and Route 11 was closed from 9:30 in the morning through 7:30 in the evening.

This after a "K-9 unit indicated that there may be explosive material within" a vehicle moving household goods. However, it was later determined that no explosives were inside, but the two occupants face charges because the vehicle wasn't properly registered or insured.

The two were turned over to Military Police.
