Jefferson County man shot inside home Thursday morning, police searching for suspects

A 20-year-old Jefferson County man is dead and police are looking for the suspects.

Investigators say Tyler Johnson was shot sometime around 1 a.m. at a residence in the town of Pamelia on State Route 37 Thursday morning.

Someone else inside the home called 9-1-1. Johnson was eventually airlifted to a Syracuse hospital where he later died.

According to what police told 7 News, Johnson was likely targeted and that there is no danger to the public--there is evidently a list of people dectives are looking to speak to.

While the search for whoever is responsible for the homicide, anyone with information is asked to call 315-366-6000.

Of note: Johnson's Facebook page has a photo of the gravesite of Nicholas VanZelf, who was killed in a robbery in Watertown in 2016.
