Tiny mosquito larvae thrive in stagnant water. A garden bucket and a couple of rainy days is the perfect recipe for breeding.  Several days of rain has local Health Department Officials expecting an explosion in the mosquito population here in Northern New York.

There are some simple ways to keep the mosquito population down around your home. Among other things, homeowners can:

-Change bird bath water every few days

-Empty ceramic pots

-Fix window screens

-Clean gutters

-Drain water from pool covers

There is also a mosquito control hotline as the point of contact: 435-1649.
