Prosecution: Kyle Box stabbed victim 46 times, burned body

WATERTOWN, N.Y. - Opening statements were made in the murder trial of 19-year-old Kyle Box on Tuesday.

Box, from Carthage, is accused of killing 62-year-old Randy Bent at Bent's Watertown home in March of 2015.

According to prosecutors, Bent originally contacted Box through a Craigslist ad, with the two later meeting up and having sexual contact.

Afterward, Box allegedly felt threatened with Bent, eventually stabbing him 46 times, burning his body and later confessing to it on video--a recording that will be played during the trial.

The defense countered, saying that box was sexually abused as a child and was confused, suffering "a complete loss of control."

The trial is slated to continue today in Jefferson County Court.
