The superintendent of the Watertown city school district said that there is no truth to rumors of a "hit list" of students to be killed Monday. Word of the supposed hit list went viral on social media late Friday and Saturday.

In a statement Saturday afternoon, superintendent Patti LaBarr stated that school officials investigated the rumor Friday & determined that there was no hit list & the school is safe. LaBarr said the rumor gained momentum when the parent of a child who formerly went to Watertown high school and who now lives in Texas posted on Facebook Friday night.
