Whitesboro Police identify officer killed in Oriskany Boulevard crash

WHITESBORO, NY (WSYR-TV) - Whitesboro Police have released the identity of an officer who was killed Wednesday night in a crash on Oriskany Boulevard.

Officer Kevin Crossley was killed when his vehicle collided with a pick-up truck near the intersection with Westmoreland Street.

The department wrote on its Facebook page:

Last night we lost one of our fellow part time Police Officers. Officer Kevin Crossley who was working in the Village of Whitesboro was killed in a 2 car motor vehicle accident on Oriskany Blvd. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends and co-workers, we will miss you brother...

 

Police told Utica station WUTR-TV that the Whitesboro Police car was on its way to a call when it collided with the pick-up truck.

The police car came to a stop in the parking lot of a pizzeria.  

Crossley was taken to St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Utica, and was pronounced dead.

The driver of the truck was taken to St. Luke's Hospital in Utica with non-life threatening injuries.

The crash is still under investigation.
