Assault arrests in the Town of Antwerp

A fight at a residence on the Pulpit Rock Road in Antwerp sends one man to the Hospital and sends another man behind bars.
Antwerp - State Police in Watertown arrested 51 year old Mitchell J Helberg of 35757 Pulpit Rock Rd, Antwerp, for Assault 2nd Degree and Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree. Also arrested was 18 year old Quintyn B Green of the same address, for Assault 3rd Degree.
 
The arrests stem from a physical altercation with victim Bryant T Matticks, also of the same address. The police Investigation showed that Matticks suffered a fractured right patella after Helberg struck him several times with a shovel. Green was found to have struck Matticks repeatedly with closed fists causing multiple lacerations to his face and head. During said altercation, Helberg additionally damaged a computer owned by Maticks which was valued at over $250.00. Matticks was transported by ambulance to EJ Noble Hospital in Gouverneur, NY where he was treated for his injuries.
 
Helberg was arraigned in the Town of Antwerp Court and subsequently remanded to the Jefferson County Public Safety Building in lieu of $500 cash bail. Green was issued an Appearance Ticket and is scheduled to reappear in the Town of Antwerp Court on April 17th.
