Car accident in New Bremen leaves 6 injured

Nathan Lehman (WTNY) - Hannah Murphy of Castorland told police she was looking down at the radio when her car went off the road and struck a tree.
Castorland (WTNY) -- Six people were sent to the hospital following a one vehicle crash last night in the Town of New Breman.

According to the Lewis County Sheriff's Department, 20 year old Hannah Murphy of Castorland told them she was looking down at the car radio when she went off the road shortly before 10:30 Monday night. Murphy's vehicle struck a tree leaving everyone in the car injured. Among them, 20 year old Chelsey Zehr of Castorland, who was taken to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse for treatment of a broken knee and femur fracture. Murphy and another passenger, Travis Wicks, were taken to Lewis County General for back injuries. The others inside the vehicle, including a 3, 6, and 11 year old child, were also taken to Lewis County General Hospital for unspecified injuries.

Murphy was ticketed for failure to keep right, speeding, and seat belt infractions for the three minors in the vehicle.
