Government Workers protest 'Shutdown' on Public Square

Nathan Lehman (WTNY) - Workers say their goal is to provide a face to the shutdown, and bring to light the individuals and families that are affected by the dispute among lawmakers.
Watertown (WTNY) -- They would rather be at work, but the federal government shut down is keeping that from happening.

Furloughed civilian workers spent the day Wednesday at Public Square. It's part of a public protest over the shutdown. Workers say their goal is to provide a face to the shutdown, and bring to light the individuals and families that are affected by the dispute among lawmakers.

The American Federation of Government Employees Local 400 organized the protest, which is expected to last the duration of the shutdown.
