A Sackets Harbor man accused of shooting his wife and then himself during a standoff with police last summer has been indicted. In counts handed up by a grand jury Thursday, 42 year old Darron Morris is charged with second degree attempted murder, as well as assault, criminal use of a firearm, and criminal possession of a weapon. Morris is alleged to have shot his wife Sherry during a domestic incident at the couple's home at Madison Barracks last August 4. He also allegedly threatened police as they removed the victim from the home. The shooting was followed by a five hour standoff that ended when police entered the home to find Morris suffering from a self inflicted gunshot wound to the head. He is currently being held in a medial facility in New York City. Last month, Jefferson County Judge Kim Martusewitcz ordered that Morris undergo a mental evaluation.
