The St. Lawrence County Drug Task force conducted an investigation in the Villages of Canton and Potsdam that resulted in the search warrants and arrests of several local suspects.
As a result of the investigation Task Force members recovered:
- $14,000 in cash
- 2.5 Pounds of Marihuana
- 60 Tablets of Oxycontin
- 1 Illegally Possessed Handgun and one shotgun.
The combined street value of the marihuana and Oxycontin was estimated at $10,000.
The investigation resulted in the arrest of the following individuals:
William G. Bowen, 21, 14 Lincoln Street in Canton, is charged with Criminal Sale of Marihuana in the 3rd degree, a class E-Felony and Criminal Possession of Marihuana in the 4th degree, a class A-Misdemeanor. Bowen was remanded to county jail on $10,000 cash or $20,000 Bond.
Jordan C. Willette, 22, 170 Pleasant Valley Rd in Potsdam, is charged with Criminal Sale of Marihuana in the 3rd degree, a class E-Felony, Open Container and consuming alcohol in a motor vehicle. Willette was remanded to county jail on $5,000 cash or $10,000 Bond.
Sam W. Gardner, 21, 38 Judson in Canton, is charged with Obstruction Governmental Administration in the 2nd degree, a class A Misdemeanor, Resisting Arrest, a class A-Misdemeanor and Unlawful Possession of Marihuana, a class A Violation. Gardner was released on his own recognizance.
Matthew P. Vanhyning, 23, 6232 County Route LOT3 in Canton, is charged with Criminal Sale of marihuana in the 3rd degree, a class E-Felony and Criminal Possession of a controlled substance in the 7th degree, a class A-Misdemeanor. Vanhyning was released to supervision of probation.
Drug Task Force Members state the investigation is ongoing and more charges are pending against the suspects.
Assisting in the investigation were Canton Village Police, Sheriff’s Department, Potsdam Police, Gouverneur Police, SUNY Potsdam Police, NYSP and Ogdensburg Police Department.
