WILLIAMSPORT – The Thousand Islands Privateers showed no sense of rust in their first road game. The Privateers out dueled the Williamsport Outlaws 3-2 in their second straight meeting.
The Privateers got on the board first when Brent Tamane beat Chris Whitley at 5:17 in the 1st period, but the lead wouldn't last long,
Midway through the first frame Matt Smythe scored while the outlaws had a man advantage after Jordan Bernier got called for hooking.
Just over a minute later, Peter Campbell got the Privateers back on top with his second goal of the season.
Both teams were held scoreless in the second period, but the hits were a plenty. Mike MacIntyre and Paul Arnott were handing out hits, much to the displeasure of the Privateers Terry Watt, who took a two-minute penalty for holding late in the period.
Corey Bellamy scored in the 3rd period to give the Privateers a 3-1 advantage.
Nick Van Den Beld scored his first goal of the season at the 15:38 mark for the Outlaws to make it a 3-2 deficit.
Matt Anthony would shut the Outlaws down the rest of the way. Anthony stopped 28 of the 30 shots faced to get the win and take away the first star honors.
1000 Islands outshot the Outlaws 31-30 in the contest.
The Privateers will try to remain undefeated as they play the Danville Dashers Friday at 7:05, the first game of a two game series between to two teams in Danville. The Privateers next home game will be Thursday November 8 at 7:35.
