(WTNY) -- The clean up is continuing today from Ice Storm 2013.
The good news is, this morning, Mother Nature is helping slightly with the recovery efforts. The temperature during the overnight rose above freezing in the Watertown area, creating a little bit of a much needed thaw from the inch and a half of ice that fell at the start of the weekend.
The big issue this morning continues to be power outages. As of mid morning, National Grid says in Jefferson County 16, 883 people remain without power. That includes 4,497 in the City of Watertown. St. Lawrence County has 6,602 people without power.
Lewis County is reporting 1,192 people without power this morning. There is still a danger of tree limbs coming down from the storm, so people are urged to be careful. The utility says it's continuing to work to get the power fully restored, but it could be several days before that occurs, especially in the remote areas without lights.
The goal is to have the power on by Tuesday night.
