City of Watertown Approves New Budget

The City Council approved the $39 million spending plan on Monday night.
(WTNY) After a delay of several weeks, the City of Watertown has a new budget. The City Council Monday night approved the $39 million spending plan. The budget was supposed to be approved two weeks ago, but because the city is looking to override the property tax cap, a special public hearing was needed.  That hearing occurred before last night's vote. The budget raises the property tax rate by about ten percent. Also during last night's meeting, the council hired a locally based security firm to replace a New York City based one that had been providing security at the Flower Memorial Library.
