Fort Drum Military Mountaineers Statue standing tall again

The crown jewel of Fort Drum's Memorial Park is back in place after crews quickly repaired the damage caused by last Thursday's high winds.
Fort Drum (WWTI) -- The crown jewel of Fort Drum's Memorial Park is back in place after crews quickly repaired the damage caused by last Thursday's high winds.

Last week at this time crews were preparing for a Veteran's Day memorial when a gust of wind tore a tent loose that hit the statue, knocking it off it's base.

The approximately 18' tall, 1,800 pound statue landed in such a way in the mulch that there was only minimal damage to the base and no damage to the artwork itself.
