Gouverneur couple charged with Welfare Fraud

They're accused of taking benefits they should not have received from '09 - '12.
Gouverneur (WTNY) --Two Gouverneur residents have been charged with welfare fraud for obtaining benefits police allege they should not have received.

34 year old Eric Sovie and 27 year old Heather Rider-Sovie are accused of failing to report accurate household income to the St. Lawrence County Department of Social Services and received about $96 hundred in Food Stamp, HEAP, and Day Care benefits from 2009 through 2012.

Both are charged with third degree welfare fraud and first degree offering a false instrument for filing. They were each arraigned and released.
