Group proposes monument to the 10th Mountain Division to be built in Thompson Park

150 thousand dollars would reportedly be needed to fund the project with many details still needing to be worked out.
Watertown (WTNY) - A group of local residents are proposing a new monument to commemorate the 10th Mountain Division at Ft. Drum.

The monument would commemorate the 30th anniversary of the reactivation of the 10th Mountain Division and be located at Thompson Park in Watertown.

The reactivation of the division by the military was announced in September 1984.

One hundred fifty thousand dollars would reportedly be needed to fund the project with many details still needing to be worked out.

Michael Plummer, who heads the group, is scheduled to attend this evening's meeting of the Watertown City Council to discuss the idea further.
