(WTNY) Professional hockey will remain in Watertown, but it won't be in the form of the Privateers. The Watertown City Council Monday night approved a contract with a new entity that will put a team on the ice later in the year. The group consists of local residents who plan to put the new team in the Federal Hockey League, which is where the Privateers previously played. This will be a completely new franchise whose name will be made public in the next several weeks. The Privateers had played in Watertown for the past two seasons after moving from Alexandria Bay.
