How will Damon and Bonnie get back from the Other Side? And what exactly is that, anyway?
Those were some of the burning questions that were brought up at The Vampire Diaries panel at Comic-Con moderated by TV Guide Magazine's Damian Holbrook on Saturday. On hand were stars Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley, Ian Somerhalder, Kat Graham, surprise guest Matt Davis and executive producer Julie Plec to answer fan questions and give an idea of what's ahead.

Time jump "It's about four months, enough time to make big changes in their life and move forward," Plec said. "Some are better at it than others."
The aftermath "The Other Side being obliterated, everyone who's ever died before can never come back," Plec said. "But we were able to bring a couple of them back,"
What Alaric is up to "[Alaric is] living outside of Mystic Falls having compelled his way into a teaching position at the local university," Davis said. But will he get a little, ahem, extracurricular activity? "If anyone deserves any naughtiness, I think it's Professor Saltzman," Plec said.
Elena's mourning "She's definitely not in a happy place [with Damon gone]," Dobrev said. "Although she has an interesting and strange way of dealing with her grief."

Originals crossover? "We're always taking about different paths we can take to bring different characters from one show to another," Plec said. "We're talking about stories right now even as we speak." She also acknowledged that it was a "logistical nightmare."
Alaric and Enzo Plec says that although Enzo (Michael Malarkey) can be charming, she hints that he will more likely piss Alaric off.
The Vampire Diaries returns on Thursday, Oct. 2 at 8/7c on The CW.
