US Military reportedly developing 'Iron Man' suit

The 'Iron Man' suit should have “first generation capability” by the summer of 2014.
(WSYR-TV) – The Pentagon is taking some of its cues from Hollywood and Marvel comics, according to recent reports indicating that the military is in the process of trying to develop an suit modeled on the one worn by Tony Stark in “Iron Man.”

According to Bloomberg Businessweek, the Tactical Assault Light Operator Suit, or Talos, will provide better protection while downloading information and video from drones and other devices.

Unlike the iconic suit made popular in the film and in Marvel comics, however, the suit will not enable its wearer to fly around the world at high speeds.

The program, which is under the supervision of the US Special Operations Command at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, says it should have “first generation capability” by the summer of 2014.

More information is available on the Bloomberg Businessweek website.
