 Doug Hoffman, who ran unsuccessfully for the seat in 2009 and 2010, has endorsed the campaign of Elise Stefanik. The Stefanik campaign made the announcement Friday morning. Hoffman, who was on the Conservative Party line in '09 and '10, had been mentioned as a possible GOP candidate with the news that Democratic incumbent Bill Owens would not be running for a third, full term in November, Stefanik is one of three declared GOP candidates for the seat. Another name that has been mentioned is former Republican candidate Matt Doheny, who lost to Owens in 2010 and 2012. He is weighing his options according to reports. Democrats are still searching for possible candidates.
