Former Corrections Officer charged with Attempted Murder

Nathan Lehman (WTNY) - A grand jury has charged Douglas Mathews Jr. with 4 counts of the 2nd degree charge in connection to an incident that occurred last month on County Rt. 310 in the Town of Canton.

Canton (WTNY) -- A former corrections officer involved in a road rage incident in St. Lawrence County has been charged with attempted murder.

A grand jury has charged 33 year old Douglas Mathews Jr. with four counts of the second degree charge in connection to a domestic incident that occurred last month on County Rt. 310 in the Town of Canton.

Mathews is alleged to have intentionally rammed his vehicle into the back of a second that contained his wife, children, and mother in law. That vehicle then went off the road and overturned. Mathews is also being charged with assault, criminal mischief, endangering the welfare of a child, and reckless endangerment.

He is being held on $100,000 cash bail.
