Lowville (WTNY) -- Officials in Lewis County have approved a measure that will see the county buy a bowling alley in Lowville, and convert the building into needed office space.
The Lewis County Legislature approved the $1 million deal Monday with a split 6-4 vote. Next spring, the county will take over Lewis Lanes, across the street from Lewis County General Hospital, and convert it into county offices. The county was offered the building by the owners of the alley.
The move comes after legislators backed off on a proposal to build a site next the county jail on outer Stowe St.
