Potsdam(WTNY) -- New controversy in the race for St. Lawrence County DA.
Democratic incumbent Nicole Duve was campaigning in Potsdam over the weekend when she approached one home that had a sign promoting her opponent in next week's election. That home belongs to the mother of Garrett Phillips, the 12 year old boy who was murdered two years ago and whose case remains unsolved.
Tandy Cyrus-Collins said Monday she is upset that Duve left without taking the opportunity to talk to her. Duve reportedly didn't know who lived in the home. Duve in a statement says "The individuals who have dragged the family into this political campaign have done them a great disservice and are damaging the chance for ultimate justice for Garrett Phillips." The family had previously endorsed Duve's opponent, Republican Mary Rain.
Rain on Monday received the endorsement of North Country State Senator Patty Ritchie.
