Watertown (WTNY) -- A former inmate of the Jefferson County Jail and two others have been charged with running a sex ring, one that authorities say was so brazen, that the main suspect ran it while incarcerated.
Thirty year old Eric Oliver of Syracuse was the alleged leader of the ring and he was assisted by 19 year old Tirra Pate of Syracuse and 19 year old Jessica Moro. The arrests were announced Tuesday by the New York State Attorney General's Office.
The trio allegedly preyed on women as young as 15 and recruited them as prostitutes, intimidating them with physical force and providing them drugs. Oliver allegedly ran the ring from the jail, even though he was told all his phone calls would be recorded.
Authorities say the ring operated in Watertown, Syracuse, Ithaca, and elsewhere.
