Watertown Privateer's Player Spotlight – Chase Tippin
By Andrew Banas
One look on the rink during a Privateer's morning practice and it's easy to spot Chase Tippin. The 6' 3'', 265 pound forward is hard to miss as he towers over most of his teammates.
Tippin uses his large stature to his advantage during games, which has earned him the reputation as team “enforcer”. Sometimes he needs to send a message to what he refers to as an “idiot” on the other team that's been pushing his guys around, and when his number is called, he's ready to square up.
However, just because he's the team's tough guy doesn't mean he goes into games looking for a fight. While he does believe there's a place for it in hockey, he does it because it's needed, not because he wants to.
“Me, myself, away from the rink I try not to be that guy, and be known as a fighter,” Tippin tells me.
Plus, he's broken his nose a few times. And while he's a tough guy that can handle the pain... “the snoring isn't getting any better,” he'll tell you with a laugh.
