Watertown (WTNY) -- More bad news for sales tax revenue for Jefferson County.
Recent figures show for the third quarter that projections for revenue in the budget are off by about three quarters of a million dollars.
The county has been increasingly dependent on sales tax over the past few years to generate revenue to meet expenses, as opposed to relying on property tax. That ride may come to an end with the upcoming budget, due to be released in a few weeks.
Jefferson County Legislator Scott Gray says it may be the most difficult budget in nearly a decade, citing a stagnation in state and federal funds, and now sales tax.
