“She’s beautiful!” Esther told Access Hollywood on Monday.
Esther Jenner, 88, has offered her support publicly throughout Caitlyn’s transition, and tellsAccess Hollywood that she met Caitlyn prior to her Vanity Fair debut. “She is so much more at ease,” according to Esther, who joins other members of the Kardashian-Jenner clan in giving a thumbs-up to Caitlyn’s photos, which were shot by Annie Liebovitz and hit the Internet on Monday.
However, Esther says it may take her a while to stop using male pronouns or Caitlyn’s birth name. “I still have to call him Bruce. His father and I named him that,” she tells Access Hollywood. “It’s going to be a struggle for me to get used to the change, but happily so. I’m very happy for him — or her!”
Caitlyn, for her part, tells Vanity Fair that she too needs to get used to her new name. “I don’t really get hung up [if people use male pronouns or her former name],” she says. “A guy came in the other day and I was fully dressed — it’s just habit, I said, ‘Hi, Bruce here,’ and I went, Oh f—, it ain’t Bruce, I was screwing up doing it.”
The Vanity Fair issue featuring Caitlyn Jenner will be available on newsstands on June 9.
