We’ve heard of towns in Jefferson and St. Lawrence counties that have been dealing with water troubles, now Fort Drum is reportedly getting set to test its ground water.
The Associated Press reports that testing will be conducted at over 660 military bases and posts, including Drum.
The concern is that chemicals used for training purposes leaked into ground-water supplies.
Those chemicals have been known to cause cancers of the prostate and kidneys.
So far Navy sites in Virginia and Jersey have found contaminated waters on their properties.
