Governor Andrew Cuomo says extreme weather is becoming the new normal in New York.

And because of severe storms and flooding this summer, Cuomo asked the federal government to officially declare 15 Upstate counties, including St. Lawrence County, major disasters.

If the feds grant a major disaster declaration, FEMA funding will be available to help with the cleanup. The estimated cost for repairs and cleanup from the storms is more than 30-million-dollars.

The 15 counties reportedly received over a foot of rain from June through July.
