Earlier in the month, Watertown City Council announced an extension on redesign bids for the Lachenauer Fountain on Public Square. And now the North County Arts Council, which is helping oversee the project, is promoting the project.
Lawmakers originally targeted their last meeting to pick a winner for the old fountain that was destroyed by a drunk driver in 2015. But artists had questions, including about compensation. So it was determined that materials would be covered and that artists should include a desired compensation fee with a submission.
The deadline was then moved to July 13, with a winning redesign bid for the Lachenauer fountain to be announced July 17.
