Carthage Area Hospital Welcomes Several New Providers
(October 7, 2015) CARTHAGE, NY – Carthage Area Hospital (CAH) is proud to introduce the following new providers:
Leilani Garcia, M.D. | Hospitalist
Dr. Leilani Garcia is a newly graduated Internal Medicine physician from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Dr. Garcia was born & raised in San Antonio, Texas, however moved to the North Country as a military child. She graduated from Indian River High School in 2000 and went on to attend Jefferson Community College to receive her Associate of Science degree. She later transferred to The State University of New York at Albany and completed her Bachelor of
Science degree in Biology, Pre-Med. She received her M.D. from The American University of Antigua (AUA) College of Medicine in 2012 and completed three years of Internal Medicine residency within PinnacleHealth Systems, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania this past June. Dr. Garcia has worked/volunteered in hospitals since the age of 17. She enjoys the challenge that all aspects of medicine offer, however she is particularly passionate for acute and critical care medicine. For the past 12 years she has lived and trained in many large cities in the North East, but is now excited to be back in upstate NY and part of the Carthage team. Dr. Garcia will be working as a Hospitalist.

Perry Spavento, M.D. | Emergency Room
Dr. Spavento was born and raised in Buffalo, attended Canisius College and the Roswell Park Graduate Division of SUNY Buffalo where he was in a PhD. program investigating platelet aggregation inhibitors. He graduated from St. George’s University School of Medicine in 1982. He then did 3 years of a General Surgery Residency at The Millard Fillmore Hospitals in Buffalo. He began a career in Emergency Medicine in 1986 and has over 26 years of experience as an ED attending physician. He served as assistant director at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center and St. Mary’s Hospital in Lewiston New York. Dr. Spavento has been active in teaching residents in the SUNY Buffalo School of Medicine Family Practice program on their ED rotations as well as several local college PA students. He has been involved with EMS teaching and is certified in PALS, ACLS and ATLS. Dr. Spavento is a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians and the American Medical Association. His wife Diane is an RN and they have been married for 27 years. He enjoys reading, fishing and astronomy. He looks forward to helping bring the highest level of care with a caring passion to our patients. “I feel I am on the ground floor of an amazing chapter in the Carthage Area Hospital’s history as we experience unbridled growth in a beautiful rural setting. I feel very grateful to be part of this facility,” said Dr. Spavento. Dr. Spavento will be working in the Hospital’s Emergency Room.
Rebecca Ring, PA | Carthage Family Health Center
Rebecca was born and raised in Adams Center, NY, attended Syracuse University, and graduated in 2011 with her Bachelor of Science in Biology and Minor in Psychology. After graduating, she spent 2 1/2 years as and EMT for Rural Metro working in the City of Syracuse to gain clinical experience prior to beginning PA school. Rebecca received her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies. Ms. Ring will be working at the Carthage Family Health Center located at 117 N. Mechanic St. in Carthage. Kenneth Alcorn, LMSW | Carthage Behavioral Health Clinic
Kenneth graduated from the Greater Rochester Collaboration’s MSW through both Nazareth College and SUNY Brockport. He has worked the last 3 years with the developmentally disabled population at the ARC in Lewis County and lives with his wife and 3 boys in New Bremen. William Blunden, PT | Carthage Therapy Services
1982 Graduate of the University at Buffalo with a BS in Physical Therapy
Worked as the Dir. Of Therapy at Carthage area Hospital from 1982 until 1987
Worked for Delta Rehab as the Rehab Director at LCGH from 1987 to 1988
Formed First Steps Rehab Inc. and contracted with 9 different facilities from 1988 until 1996 and acted as Dir. of Rehab Services at LCGH during that time.
Joined LCGH in 1996 as an employee and remained Dir of Rehab Services until 2007
He has worked for Jefferson County Public Health, Country Manor Nursing Home, during his career. He has lectured around the country on Functional Capacity Testing and Work Hardening and worked for Baltimore Therapeutic Equipment (BTE) as a trainer and equipment installer for various testing equipment. Randolph Imhoff, LMFT | Carthage Behavioral Health Clinic
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).
Randy is a retired Army Chaplain with over 25 years of Active Military Service. During his time as a chaplain, he was selected to attend Advanced Civilian Schooling in the area of Marriage and Family Therapy. He received his M.S. in Counseling Psychology from Tarleton State University in 2001 and spent the remaining years in the Army as a Family Life Chaplain at Ft Jackson, SC and Ft Drum, NY.
Randy established a private counseling practice after retirement in 2006 and was a therapist at Family Counseling Service of NNY, Inc. in Watertown until his recall to active duty in 2008. In 2011, he completed his recall time and was the Clinical Director for Family Counseling Service of NNY, Inc. He worked at CAH BH from May 2011 to Nov 2014.
