A Carthage native and high school lacrosse standout is facing drug possession charges in the state of Florida. Twenty eight year old Mario Ventiquattro was fired from his head coaching job at North Broward Prep in the Fort Lauderdale area after being arrested for cocaine possession charges. The Sun-Sentinel reports that Ventiquattro was arrested March 17, along with another local lacrosse coach after police reportedly caught the two with small, clear plastic bags containing powder cocaine. He pleaded not guilty to the charge and is awaiting trial. Ventiquattro was a standout lacrosse player at Carthage High School before playing at Ohio St. and going pro.
