The Watertown City Council has chosen local businessman Steve Bradley as their developer of choice for the former Berow and Monroe store building in downtown, giving him six months to come up with financing for the property.
The decision was made unanimously by the council during their meeting Monday night.
Both Bradley and another downtown property owner, Thomas Millar of Oswego, had been vying for the building located at 138 Court St. There is concern that the building may not make it through the upcoming winter unless repairs and stabilization are made soon.
In other action during last night’s meeting, the council decided against putting the tax sale certificates for several pieces of dilapidated property on VanDuzee St. up for public auction next month.
Plan are to keep those properties until a long term development plan can be found.
