The concept of a dog park for Watertown isn’t a dead topic just yet. According to the Watertown Daily Times, City Council members Cody Horbacz and Ryan Henry-Wilkinson both support creating a dog park, a subject that has long since been discussed but has been a source of controversy.

In fact, a few years ago, council voted to create a dog park off Factory Street, but it was met with public backlash. Currently, fellow member Mark Walczyk and Mayor Joe Butler Jr. both are against the idea.

Horbacz and Henry-Wilkinson reportedly are interested in putting a dog park in Thompson Park, something that previous councils have voted against. A potential deciding vote now, council member Lisa Ruggerio says she is weighing the “pros and cons” of a park.
