The Factory Street Reconstruction Project has a start date.
City officials announced late Monday afternoon that the delayed project will get underway next Monday, August 24.
The multimillion dollar project will see Factory St. rebuilt over the course of two construction seasons.
The first part of the project will include the closure of the south span of the Mill St. Bridge in order for drainage work to be done.
Water main work will also be done at the intersection of Mill and Newell Streets and progress towards Factory.
Pedestrian traffic across the Mill St. Bridge will remain open during this phase of the project, which will last 6-8 weeks.
Beginning on Monday, August 31, westbound traffic on Factory St. will be detoured to Main St. East and West to the Court St. Bridge to allow water main work to begin on Factory St. Eastbound traffic will remain open.
National Grid Crews will also be working over the next few weeks on portions of the project.
