A boost to the agricultural economy may soon be coming to North Country farmers, but first it has to get through Albany.

State Senator Patty Ritchie proposed legislation earlier this week that would restore and increase previously cut funding for ag-based programs and potentially provide tax and regulatory relief for farmers.

Another part of the initiative would be to create a “North Country Ag Academy,” which would give school students an opportunity to get some real-life practices, and set them up for future farming careers.

Senator Ritchie says she is helping “support the hard work of our farm families and grow the future of agriculture in New York State.”
