Fire in Lewis County Search and Rescue building

An electrical problem is believed to be behind an overnight fire that heavily damaged offices and property owned by Lewis County Search and Rescue in Lowville.

Fire crews were dispatched to West State Street at around 1 am this morning.

The fire was centered at the business office and training center for the rescue squad.

Firefighters contained the blaze, but the training room and business office sustained significant smoke damage.

No injuries were reported.
