A former student at Indian River has pleaded guilty to charges that he planned to kill students and staff at the high school in an incident in early 2014. Sixteen year old Nicholas Nicorvo was charged as an adult in the case, pleading guilty to second degree attempted murder, admitting that he brought a loaded rifle to the school on January 15, 2014 with the intention of doing harm to others. Nicorvo unveiled the rifle during his science class on that day, but was disarmed by teacher Robert Kuba. Kuba has since been credited with helping prevent a tragedy through his actions. Nicorvo will be sentenced to one to three years in state prison September 22.
